From 363f74f976111a9769ee185ea4c6618032745ba5 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Manfred Stienstra Date: Sun, 1 Nov 2009 17:18:27 +0100 Subject: [PATCH] Add ActiveSupport::Multibyte::Chars#limit. The limit method limits the number of bytes in a string. Useful when the storage space of the string is limited, for instance in a database column definition. --- .../lib/active_support/multibyte/chars.rb | 29 +++++++------- activesupport/test/multibyte_chars_test.rb | 41 ++++++++++++++++++++ 2 files changed, 56 insertions(+), 14 deletions(-) diff --git a/activesupport/lib/active_support/multibyte/chars.rb b/activesupport/lib/active_support/multibyte/chars.rb index 579ccc1..6e7d6f3 100644 --- a/activesupport/lib/active_support/multibyte/chars.rb +++ b/activesupport/lib/active_support/multibyte/chars.rb @@ -363,6 +363,16 @@ module ActiveSupport #:nodoc: slice end + # Limit the byte size of the string to a number of bytes without breaking characters.
