actionmailer does not support HAML

Reported by Walther Højgaard Diechmann | July 9th, 2010 @ 02:01 PM

I prefer to have the generators build me HAML view templates - so my first "r3 actionmailer generator drive" took me on a slight detour (had to change my template_engine temporarily to :erb - run the generator and change the template_engine back to :haml)

Perhaps the generator should degrade gracefully to erb?

It's no biggie - just thought you'd like to know

(afraid I cannot offer a patch - I'm barely able to read the rails source) :(

Cheers,
Walther

I think it's supposed to work like this. The mailer generator calls the mailer generator in whatever template_engine you have set (in your case HAML), and since HAML doesn't provide rails 3 generators AFAIK, it fails. You could try one of the following:

Install mbleigh's haml-rails plugin, which has HAML generators.

Call the generator with @-e erb@, which sets the template_engine to erb for that generator.

    Hope this helps,
    Henrik
