habtm join table with timestamps uses wrong ones

Reported by Nicolas | October 16th, 2010 @ 11:02 AM

I understand that has_and_belongs_to_many join tables should not have timestamps on them. But if they do, rails gets confused.

Example:

User has and belongs to many Projects.
Table projects_users has timestamps on it, as have users and projects.

my_user.projects will return an array of all projects the user is assigned to but each project will have the timestamps (created_at, updated_at) of the join table. Easy to confirm if these fields are null in the join table and not null in the entity tables.
