    Why are you calling reset_subclasses ? Can you not just call ActiveSupport::Dependencies.clear ?

    Anyone has thoughts on how to test this ?

    alias_method_chain is just supposed to be a shortcut for two alias_method statements. Usecase like yours, deserves a solution of it's own.

    I feel it's bit too complex. And extensions like this are a better fit for Rails.root/lib rather than in core.
