Error dumping big decimal columns
Reported by Ahmed ElDawy | March 2nd, 2010 @ 07:59 PM
I'm using rails 2.3.5
ruby 1.8.6
mysql Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.75, for debian-linux-gnu (i486) using
readline 5.2
When I run rake db:schema:dump while I have a column of this
format
t.decimal :size, :limit=>63, :precision=>63, :scale=>0
It is dumped to be like this
t.integer "size", :limit => 63, :precision => 63, :scale
=> 0
This is incorrect because when I load this using rake
db:schema:load, it's loaded as
int(11) ############ wrong
instead of
decimal(63,0) ########### correct
To replicate this bug create a new rails application with this migration
class CreateFiles < ActiveRecord::Migration
def self.up
create_table :files do |t|
t.decimal :size, :limit=>63, :precision=>63, :scale=>0
end
end
def self.down
drop_table :files
end end
then do the following
rake db:drop db:create db:migrate db:schema:dump db:schema:load
correct behavior is
ActiveRecord::Base.connection.columns('files')[1].type ==
:decimal
incorrect behavior is
ActiveRecord::Base.connection.columns('files')[1].type ==
:integer
The error is with this method
ActiveRecord::ConnectionAdapters::MysqlColumn#simplified_type
You can find it on
active_record/connection_adapters/abstract/schema_definitions.rb:
238
Thanks for your help
