Make the options that has_many, belongs_to and other association generation methods, configurable

I'm writing a plugin which hooks into 'has_many', 'belongs_to' and other association generation methods. It extends these methods with new options that can be accepted.
The attached patch makes the list of acceptable options configurable, so that the plugin doesn't have to monkeypatch so much.
Is this simple enough to make it into 2.2?
