routes resources except option accept only array

Routes resources doesn't accept this:
resources :uploads, :except => :destroy
but accept this:
resources :uploads, :except => [:destroy]

Hello,
I am marking this as invalid as using [:destryo] with the brackets is correct. Looking at the Rails API documentation I show the following on this page http://api.rubyonrails.org/classes/ActionController/Resources.html:
map.resources :posts, :only => [:index, :show] do |post|
post.resources :comments, :except => [:update, :destroy] endMike Riley
