I think you got the wrong site, mate.
This is a site for reporting bugs, or requesting changes to rails itself.
(at the moment any Comet implementation is purely plugin based)
Give http://www.ruby-forum.com/forum/3 a try for discussion about Rails, how to use it, and what plugins are out there for comet.
Although a quick google on "comet with rails" reveals;
AjaxMessaging - http://code.google.com/p/ajaxmes...
don't know how well maintained it is - it still talks about Rails 1.2 on the site
