action mailer can't deliver mail via smtp (exchange 2007) on ruby 2.3.5

I have a developer from external to create a intranet for us using ruby. The intranet will have option to trigger an email. We are using Exchange 2007. The developer used:

email_config = <<-EOF

  ActionMailer::Base.delivery_method = :smtp
  ActionMailer::Base.smtp_settings = {
    :address => ?
    :port => ?
    :authentication => ?
    :user_name => ?
    :password => ?
    :domain => ?
  }

But when they did testing the email trigger, the log will generated error: 501 5.1.7 Invalid Email address. I saw that the Mail from: sis@smtpdomainname.com in coding.

Please help
