    I found named_scope is buggy with has_many :through when the 2 models do have the same column name used by the scope.

    Sure, but in my example, the :before_add hook can only handle the Topic, not the Subscription. :(

    Wow, this is really a critical bug as this buggy behavior breaks applications when the Dirty module was introduced to rails. This patch deserves a minor release...
