I just had the exact same issue. Overriding sendmail settings resolved it.

@Yukal: Is this a problem with ssmtp? If it's not fully compatible with sendmail/post...

Requiring "json/pure" solves the problem for DataMapper, you just need to implement to_json for your models (or for DataMapper::Model).
