@Jason When you buy a hard drive Giga mean 10^9.
On MacOS X in SATA description Giga mean 10^9
Now just type "df" and "df -h" in your shell. It use Gi for Gibia...

Currently 1.kilobyte return 1024 but according to most standart organisations it should return 1000 or be named kibibyte
