render :layout => false not working

Hi,
I was testing rails 2.3.1 when I set render layout=> false it's ignored and render full layout.

- State changed from “new” to “invalid”
Just tested under 2.3.2, working fine for me. Please provide a failing test case if you can reproduce on final 2.3.
