PostgreSQL and functional indexes
Reported by Mike Sidorov | January 12th, 2011 @ 12:16 PM
I have a table with functional index with the following DDL
`CREATE INDEX "index_company_tokens_on_email_ci" ON "public"."company_tokens"
USING btree ("company_id", (lower((email)::text)));
When I try to run tests, I get the following
PGError: ERROR: zero-length delimited identifier at or near """"
LINE 1: ...y_tokens_on_email_ci" ON "company_tokens" ("company_id", "")
: CREATE INDEX "index_company_tokens_on_email_ci" ON "company_tokens" ("company_id", "")

It's not ActiveRecord issue. You should use config.active_record.schema_format = :sql when using expressions like (lower((email)::text)).
You would also take a look at https://github.com/mlomnicki/redhillonrails_core (Indexing using an arbitrary expression)
