This isn't ActiveRecord, though. The whole idea of ActiveModel is that callbacks, validations, etc should be able to be used independently of ActiveRecor...

Take a look at this gist.

Both specs should pass: the before_validate callback should always be run before the validators. Instead, what appears to be happening...
