I'm for moving attr_name as first parameter. It's more natural and intuitive order for me. Like this:

Article.decrement(:counter, 1)
Article.decrement(:counter...

As we are now in process of removing deprecated stuff for 3.1, I've removed old mailer API.

I didn't catch this becouse I wasn't even looking after this. Thought that if it is not used in core than no body care about it ;-)

If you think it's good, and have no objections, it would be good to apply it on 3-0-stable before final release.
