Perhaps it would be better to mimic the existing naming scheme, so maybe existing_record? or saved_record? instead of saved? or something to that effect.

I can not reproduce this with the latest edge (7706b5703). With the following environment.rb:

Basically this is just the way Rails works. What you want to do is probably something like:
```
u = User.new
u.build_profile
u.profile.build_contact
u.save
```
