I just hit this problem as well on Rails 3.0.3. Removing the lines Nate identified solved the problem but it seems like there should be some smart code in Rails...

Good call. I switched the process to
```
gem install bundler --pre
```
and the segmentation faults seem to have stopped. Previously I was using bundler-0.9.26.

Rails error pages, public/index.html, and app/layout all use HTML5 now. The HTML5 specification has a shorter way of setting character encoding.
